1008 TAISPEÁNTAS EALAÍNE AN OIREACHTAIS - CATALOGUE
We just completed the design and production of the catalogue for Taispeántas Ealaíne an Oireachtais; the Oireachtas Art Competition and Exhibition 2008. The 24-page catalogue features the sculpture work of overall winner and recipient of the Douglas Hyde Gold Medal, Patrick Barry from Cork. The exhibition also showed craft pieces of outstanding quality by Marika O'Sullivan, silversmith, along with contemporary furniture makers Imago Alternatives Ltd., among others.

A&D have been working with the good people in Dublin's The Helix venue on the print advertising for their Autumn / Winter programme of events. We've been plugging the Moscow City Ballet, a week of children's events and a joint SMS promotion with the Irish daily red-tops. Culture, yourself?

0908 CINEMOBILE - IRELAND'S TRAVELLING CINEMA
We've just completed the graphic design of the new Cinemobile Schools' Programme, which is the best and biggest yet. Classics like The Third Man and Cinema Paradiso rub shoulders with recent realeases like Earth and Son of Rambow, alongside Irish cinema, foreign features, adaptations and comparative texts for senior students. The programme also features Irish shorts, documentaries, and picks for primary, junior cycle and transition year - magic! The Cinemobile is a 100-seater mobile cinema, which has shown movies to over 100,000 people to date - please visit their website for more info.

0908 THE SAW DOCTORS TOP THE CHARTS
Congratulations to The Saw Doctors - their new single About You Now, a cover of The Sugababes hit, has reached No.1 in the Irish charts. It's been seventeen years since "The 'Docs" last had an Irish No. 1 - if their current form is anything to go by we haven't heard the last of them by a long stroke! 0808 KILKENNY ARTS FESTIVAL IN DESIGN WEEK MAGAZINE
Our work with Kilkenny Arts Festival was namechecked in the UKs Design Week magazine recently. The weekly, published by Centaur Media Plc, prints 35,000 copies per issue and is in it's twentieth year of covering all that's good in branding, digital, editorial, exhibition, furniture, graphics, interiors, packaging, print, product and retail design. 0708 THE SAW DOCTORS - HDR PHOTOGRAPHY IN EFFECT
We commissioned our old friend Seán Varden Kenny to shoot some HDR pics of The Saw Doctors for use on posters and press ads to promote their sell-out gig in Salthill Park on Saturday 26th July. HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography combines multiple exposures to produce a stunning "real" effect, which you can see in the before and after pics above. There was such demand for tickets that the band had to put on a second show on the Sunday. Boom!

0708 BOOK DESIGN - DESMIDS OF THE WEST OF IRELAND
We just completed the design and production of the 208 page "A Practical Guide to the Desmids of the West of Ireland" by David M. John and David B. Williamson. The guide is based on scientific studies of desmids (single-celled or filamentous green algae that are abundant in water of low mineral content), collected over almost 20 years from some of the thousands of boggy pools and loughs so characteristic of the landscape of Connemara and south Mayo in the West of Ireland. The guide provides diagnostic descriptions, user-friendly keys and informative line drawings designed to assist in identifying the more than 400 desmids known from the West of Ireland. It covers just over a third of the more than 800 species recorded from Britain and Ireland (including two new taxa) and is the first identification guide to deal with any group of freshwater algae in Ireland. We've been designing the display graphics, literature and signage for the Irish pavilion at Cannes Film Festival. A joint initiative between Bord Scannán na hÉireann / The Irish Film Board and Northern Ireland Screen, the Irish pavilion provides an important social and commercial focal point for the Irish film-making community at Cannes.

0408 CILLÍN HILL - 21ST CENTURY AGRICULTURE IN KILKENNY
This week sees the official opening, by Mary Coughlan TD, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, of Cillín Hill, the new purpose-built headquarters of Kilkenny Co-op Mart. A&D provided the graphic design of launch materials for this stunning new complex which includes the South-East's premier multi-purpose venue, conference facilities, sales rings, commercial units and The Amber bar and restaurant. Agriculture has never been so sexy!
