0508 SOLSTICE ROUND ARAN YACHT RACE FOR GALWAY HOSPICE

A&D are pleased to support Galway Bay Sailing Club's Round Aran yacht race again this year, raising money for Galway Hospice Foundation. Solstice events have raised over €20,000 for charity since we began in 2000. The Round Aran is the most challenging race in the GBSC calendar. Yachts start from Galway docks at 9pm, racing through the night around the back of the Aran Islands, finishing in Kilronan after dawn. The race will be held on Friday 13th June.

0108 HELVETICA DOCUMENTARY

We organised a screening of Gary Hustwit's documentary film on the Helvetica typeface in Nun's Island Arts Centre. The feature-length film, which includes interviews with the world's leading type designers and commentators, has been an international success since its premiere in March 2007, and the Galway screening was no different - thanks to all the people that came along to the sold-out show.

WINTER SOLSTICE PARTY - GALWAY HOSPICE FOUNDATION

A&D sponsored another Winter Solstice party in 2007, to raise funds for Galway Hospice Foundation. On Saturday 22nd December we had a great night in Galway Rowing Club with DJ's Nat Peary and Will Softly, raising over €1,500 in the process. Thanks to everyone who came along and enjoyed themselves, and everyone who worked hard to make the night a success. We are also grateful to Screenway for sponsoring an Apple iPod nano for the raffle, and Michael Gates for use of his Saturnalia image, above.

SOLSTICE ROUND ARAN YACHT RACE - GALWAY HOSPICE

Galway Bay Sailing Club's annual Solstice Round Aran Yacht Race raised over €1,500 which will go directly to Galway Hospice Foundation. We've been supporting this event for some years and were pleased to sponsor the pre-race reception in The House Hotel. This years monies bring to almost €20,000 that our Solstice fundraising activities have brought in since we began way back in 2000.

Cuirt

A&D SPONSOR CÚIRT FESTIVAL OF LITERATURE

We were delighted to be a sponsor of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature 2007. Organised by Galway Arts Centre, Cúirt occupies a special place internationally and continues to attract the best writers from around the globe to Galway. We were particularly pleased that John Healy's long out of print "The Grass Arena" was reprinted to mark his attendance at Cúirt. John Healy read together with poet, playwright and novelist Dermot Healy in the Town Hall on Friday May 27th in an event sponsored by A&D.
